ASX will conduct three Industry Wide Tests (IWT) in the production environment in preparation for go-live of Service Release 15 (SR15)

This notice applies to the second IWT date on 3rd May which will be combined with the first of two Business Continuity Testing (BCP) events this year for ASX Trade.

ASX will conduct three Industry Wide Tests (IWT) in the production environment in preparation for go-live of Service Release 15 (SR15) on the following dates:

  • IWT1 – Saturday 12th April 2025
  • IWT2 – Saturday 3rd May 2025 (ASX BCP Weekend)
  • IWT3 – Saturday 10th May 2025 (Go live readiness)

For each event, the market will run through all session states on a compressed schedule to allow customers to test the functional changes including the new session states, new Trade Report codes and the FIX Drop Copy service (conformed applications only).

This second IWT date will be combined with the first of two Business Continuity Testing events for ASX Trade this year.

To assist customers in testing,

  • For the new Opening Single Price Auction (OSPA) for cash markets, ASX will simulate load in securities AMC, ANZ, BHP, BXB, CBA, CSL, FMG, MQG, NAB, NEM, RIO, RMD, STO, TCL, TLS, WBC, WDS, WES, WOW and XYZ.
  • For the Late closing auctions in the Post Close session state, ASX will apply a Pre_NR to the following securities during the Open phase (between 10:10 and 10:15) and end them during the Post Close between 12:12 and 12:15 AEST  – ANN, GPT, LNW, and TWE.

ASX requests that all Participants will take part in the IWT/BCP events. Vendors and AMOs are strongly encouraged to participate.

Participants will be required to attest, they can successfully connect and process the new functionality available in SR15.

The test period for IWT 2/BCP will be from 08:30 to 14:00 AEST.

What do I need to do by when?

Registration

  • Registrations for all IWT/BCP events should be completed via the attached Appendix 1 - customer registration form and returned to ASX Customer Technical Support (CTS).
  • Registrations for IWT 2/ BCP should be returned by close of business by Friday 25 April 2025 to confirm participation in the test. Registrations for IWT 2/BCP received after this date will not be accepted.
  • Participants need to specify ASX Net and ALC gateway connectivity details that will be used in the test, other access points will be disabled by ASX.
  • Participants must liaise with their vendors prior to the test to ensure readiness.

Test Information and Conditions

  • During the IWT 2/BCP the ASX TradeMatch and ASX Centrepoint order books will be opened for transactional activity.
  • Good to Cancel/Good to Date orders in the system on Friday 2 May 2025 will be restored in ASX Trade on Saturday 3 May 2025.
  • ASX will cancel any existing Undisclosed and Iceberg orders prior to market open.
  • The test is limited to ASX Trade connections for order entry and execution and the new FIX drop copy service; there will be no access provided to CHESS or Signal B.
  • Participants not joining the test should ensure their production sessions remain disconnected post the ASX Trade system shutdown at 20:30 AEST on Friday 2 May 2025, until the conclusion of testing on Saturday. The system rollback will be completed ready for a normal open on Monday 5 May 2025.
  • The trading date for transactions performed during the test will be Saturday 3 May 2025.
  • User configuration changes made during the test, including password changes, will be rolled back at the end of the test and will not be available in production on Monday 5 May 2025.
  • Transactions performed on Saturday 3 May 2025 will not be available on ASX Trade on Monday 5 May 2025. Participants and vendors should remove 3 May transactions from their applications on completion of the test.
  • Participants will be able to connect to the production environment from 8.30am on Saturday 3 May 2025.

Testing Schedule

For the purpose of this test and to better simulate an incident scenario, all times are approximate and may be subject to change on the day. Events will be published in real time via the System Status Page, Participants should monitor this page through the test for all updates.

Times may also be subject to change based on participant feedback from IWT 1.

Post Login disable, participants can expect a “connection refused” message when attempting telnet testing, indicating a successful rollback.

Participants are required to email CTS their test status, advising of either a successful completion or a list of outstanding issues

Confirmation and Declaration

  • On completion of the IWT test, Participants must email CTS their test status, advising of either a successful completion or a list of outstanding issues.
  • Confirmations can be sent as soon as markets move to ADJUST and Participants have completed testing, no later than 14:00 AEST.
  • Participants are required to declare their attendance and participation in the IWT 2/BCP test following the event via a Declaration of Participation Form– Appendix 3, to Customer Technical Support (CTS) by close of business Friday 16 May 2025.
  • Participants are required to submit an Attestation Form – Appendix 4 to CTS confirming their readiness for SR15 go-live by 2pm 10 May 2025.
