Austraclear Root Certificate expiry and temporary change to expiration period for User digital certificates

To access the Austraclear system, all Austraclear users require the following:

-        a valid digital certificate specific to each user, and

-        a valid root certificate authority referable to ASX Austraclear

Both certificates operate together to provide permissioned access to the Austraclear system. Each certificate is valid for a set period of time and the expiry date of the user’s digital certificate cannot extend beyond the expiry date of the Austraclear root certificate.

The current root certificate authority for all Austraclear users will expire on 8 January 2025. As such Austraclear is now issuing digital certificates with an expiration of 12 months (as this is within the expiration period of the root certificate authority), instead of 2 years.

ACTION

All Austraclear users need to download the new Austraclear Root Certificate Authority, available at the link below. The new Austraclear Root Certificate Authority carries an expiration date of 8 January 2035.

The new root CA must be downloaded by all active Austraclear users before 5 May 2023, prior to the implementation of SR15. Austraclear will then revert to issuing digital certificates with an expiration of 2 years (within the expiration period of the new root certificate authority).

If the new Austraclear Root CA is not installed, users will not be able to enrol or renew a digital certificate until the new Root CA is installed.

What do I need to do by when?

All Austraclear users must install the new Root Certificate Authority prior to 5 May 2023.
