Upcoming release of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Upcoming release of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on ASX Online

To enhance security as well as protect you and your ASX Online account, ASX is introducing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to ASX Online from 31 March 2025.

What this means for you

From 31 March 2025 ASX Online will begin prompting you to enable MFA using one of three options. While it will be possible to skip enabling it initially, the feature will become mandatory from 1 July 2025.

To provide you choice and support for stronger MFA methods, three MFA options are available:

  • Passkey - allows you to use the security features on your smartphone, phone, computer or tablet to log in. Passkeys can be set up with a fingerprint, face scan, screen unlock pin or swipe pattern. While less well known these are one of the easiest and strongest methods to use.
  • Authenticator App - a mobile app of your choice that generates a time-based one-time password that you’ll need to enter each time you log in. Authenticator Apps are available to download from the App Store or Google Play Store (e.g. Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator).
  • Physical security key - a physical or hardware security key device (e.g. YubiKey) to verify your identity when you log in.

You have the option to defer enabling MFA for up to three months. During this period, you will receive reminders as you login before MFA setup becomes mandatory. Once you enable MFA, you will be required to use MFA for all future ASX Online logins. You will have the ability to change your MFA method and reset your password yourself on ASX Online.

Scheduled maintenance – 29 March 2025

There may be interruptions to ASX Online access and services to support this upgrade on Saturday 29 March 2025, between 8 am and 10 pm (AEDT). We recommend planning your ASX Online activities accordingly to avoid disruptions.
