To support the introduction of ASX’s newest asset class, the exchange will temporarily waive fees on all Environmental Futures transactions for a period of 3 months, commencing the first day of trading.

The fee waiver will run from the 29th July 2024 – 31st October 2024 (inclusive) and will cover all transaction types (on exchange, blocks and Exchange for Physical).

The fee waiver is a reflection of ASX’s commitment to growth in this new market and is intended to help build liquidity by encouraging early engagement from a diverse range of market participants.

ASX Environmental Futures are designed to support Australia and New Zealand’s decarbonisation efforts and transition to net zero. Each product is listed out to five years, providing a transparent forward curve for the market to price and manage the risk of the energy transition. Three new products will be listed covering:

·       Australian Carbon Credit Unit’s (ACCU’s)

·       Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGC’s); and

·       New Zealand Units (NZU’s).

What do I need to do by when?

Market Participants wanting to trade ASX Environmental Futures should be in contact with their Clearing Participant to ensure they are aware of the listing and intend to clear the new product(s) from go live.
