ASX will conduct a business continuity test in the production ASX 24 environment on Saturday 29 April 2023.  It is expected that all trading participants will participate in the test.

The test period will be from 13:00 to 17:00 AEST. A connectivity window will be provided before transactions can be submitted.

The test is to confirm functionality during ASX 24 component fail over from the primary to secondary ASX site and to confirm connectivity is maintained when primary ASX Net connections are failed over.

What do I need to do by when?

  • Registrations via Appendix 1 should be completed and returned to ASX Customer Technical Support (CTS) by close of business on Friday 21 April 2023 to confirm participation for the test. CTS will not accept any registrations or confirmations of any connections to be used in the test beyond this date.
  • The test is limited to ASX 24 connections; there will be no access to Genium Clearing during the test period.
  • Access to ASX 24 multicast data protocol (MDP) will be enabled for the test. MDP users who do not wish to participate in the test should ensure their sessions remain disconnected after ASX 24 end of day processes commence on Saturday 29 April 2023 until the conclusion of testing and the rollback is completed, ready for the earlier system start-up time of 13:00 Sunday 30 April 2023.
  • Configuration changes made during the test, including password changes, will be rolled back at the end of the test and will not be available in production on Monday 1 May 2023.
  • The trading date for transactions performed during the test will be Saturday 29 April 2023. These transactions will not be available on ASX 24 on Monday 1 May. Participants and vendors need to remove any 29 April transactions from their applications on completion of the test.
  • Timings and activities of the day will be published in real-time on the system status page.

 Test Confirmation

On completion of the test, customers must email CTS their test status, advising of either a successful completion or a list of outstanding issues.

ASX intends to have all failover scenarios completed as early as possible in the test schedule to allow customers to complete their validation. The remaining test window is to allow for ASX internal system validations separate to the failover scenarios.

Confirmations can be sent as soon as these scenarios have been completed on the day, but should be sent by no later than 17:00 AEST.

The ASX 24 platform will start up earlier than usual on Sunday 30 April at 13:00 to facilitate any early connectivity testing.

It is suggested that where required test participants liaise with their vendors prior to the test to ensure readiness.
