The ASX Equity Research Scheme (ERS) is a scheme under which ASX subsidises research by ASX participants on ASX-listed companies that meet the following criteria:
Listed before 1 January 2017;
Market capitalisation of at least $30m and less than $1 billion;
Less than three analysts covering the company (ASX will preferentially allocate companies with the least coverage);
Outside the S&P / ASX 300;
At least 10% free float.
ASX is seeking proposals from suitably qualified organisations (Research Providers) who wish to participate in the scheme for the 2018 financial year.
To qualify, respondents must:
(a) Be an ASX Market Participant;
(b) Be licensed under Australian law to provide the financial services required by their participation in the ERS;
(c) Have an established research function in place and engage a research analyst with at least three (3) years of relevant experience to write the report;
(d) Have, and be able to demonstrate, an established distribution network appropriate for the companies covered under the Proposal; and
(e) Demonstrate the firm is not facing, or has not faced, any disciplinary action, regulatory action or legal proceedings, in relation to the formation and/or provision of research brought against it in the last five (5) years.
The timeline for administering the ASX Research Scheme for FY18 is as follows:
RFP responses 21/7/17
Indicative list of companies to Research Providers 4/8/17
Contracts 11/8/17
First reports due 30/11/17
