In relation to the United States Presidential Election on Tuesday, 8 November 2016 (Wednesday, 9 November Australian time) and the potential impact this may cause on market volatility and ASX Clear Future’s exposures, the following arrangements will apply on Wednesday, 9 November 2016.

In addition to the regularly scheduled intraday runs on ASX Clear (Futures), an additional subsequent intraday run will also be made, with calls notified at approximately 3.45pm for settlement by 4.15pm. Intraday margin thresholds for all intraday runs will be set at substantially lower levels than currently. A separate market notice setting out these thresholds will be sent out on Monday, 7 November 2016.

Clearing participants are also reminded of the following:

  • The return of intraday funds to Clearing Participants is at the discretion of ASX Clear (Futures)

  • Initial margin parameters can be adjusted intraday

  • Additional Initial Margins (AIMs) can be imposed on clearing participants, at the discretion of ASX Clear (Futures) to provide additional cover for potential significant market movements

ASX will keep participants informed of any developments during the course of trading on Wednesday, 9 November 2016.
